Surveying Technology
The principles of measurement and mapping remain the same as it has for centuries. The advancement of new technology means that surveyors can now take measurements and report data with increased speed and accuracy. Kirkham Michael surveyors are at the forefront of the latest technology and are using the new technology to our client's advantage every day. We have invested in a 3D laser scanner, which is used to interpret the shape of items in the field by collecting clouds of points to created digital 3D models for existing bridges, highways, or other infrastructure to provide data for accurate design services. Geographic information systems and software is used to capture and analyze existing data on a parcel of land to create maps of project areas. These maps can be used by designers and engineers to conduct drainage analysis, define elevations, and design infrastructure projects.

Construction Engineering
Our construction engineering team works with the owner, engineer, and contractor to ensure the project is built according to the project specifications, while keeping the owner appraised of the current schedule. Our observation team is trained and certified to provide materials testing for Portland Cement Concrete (PCC), hot mix asphalt, soils, and aggregates. The team tracks and maintains documentation throughout the construction project to be prepared for a final audit and project close out.

Construction Administration
Construction administration involves making decision to enable completion of a project as required by the contract documents, managing the timely flow of information, including review and observation of the construction project. This is important to the owner and consultant not only to determine that the work is proceeding as expected, but also because it allows a final opportunity to detect any inaccuracies, ambiguities or inconsistencies in the design.
